A pacemaker is a small device placed under the skin of the chest to help manage slow or irregular heart rhythms (bradycardia). It monitors the heart and sends electrical impulses when needed to maintain a healthy rhythm.
Implantation is recommended for patients with:
- Fainting or dizziness due to bradycardia
- Heart block or sick sinus syndrome
- Symptoms affecting quality of life
The device is inserted via a small incision, typically under local anesthesia.
