Vein ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat incompetent superficial veins that contribute to varicose veins, leg swelling, or ulcers. A small catheter is inserted into the problematic vein, and heat or laser energy is applied to seal it shut.
This procedure is often used when:
- Symptoms interfere with daily life
- Compression therapy is ineffective
- There are visible, painful varicose veins
Vein ablation improves blood flow by rerouting blood through healthier veins and typically requires little to no downtime.
